Augusta Atla

Painter / visual artist (DK)

CPH DK 2017

ATELIER 2017 DK

Lightness, balance, vitality, the preciousness of Time, carefulness, tactility, contemporary culture linked to ancient cultures, freshness, an understanding of our human fragility, empathy, inner bliss in PAINT is what I work with currently.

I work intuitively in oeuvre, meaning I do not plan an oeuvre, it comes as an extremely strong necessity emotionally, - only in retrospection I understand its width and span. My current oeuvre (2017 - ) is on "Paint and Greek Antiquity's idea of Balance and Fertility symbols", Currently I paint every day and I use no digital devices.

However the current oeuvre title is only a working title, as again, I do not know the full landscape of the oeuvre before it has come to and end. I know very clearly when an oeuvre has fully blossom, as I stop one day suddenly to produce and I feel empty / finished /succeded.

My artwork is situated within the history and theory of the 2d pictorial image, e.g. Western art history, this explains why I have travelled extensively to visit the great works of art history. The Grand Tour: Between 2014-2016 I lived in Athens, Greece and between 2007-2014 I lived in Venice, Rome, Milan and Paris (with smaller trips to many cities in Italy to see art history sites).

Since January 2017 I live in Copenhagen, Denmark with artistic studio in the woods near Copenhagen city center.
