Augusta Atla is a painter - born in 1979 in Gentofte, Denmark. Between 2003 - 2007, education in BA Fine Art and MA Art History in London, UK.

After education Atla did an extensive painting research on her own travelling through Europe, between 2007 - 2016, visiting many European cities for the sake of seeing physically the masterpieces of paintings of European art history - whilst living in Venice, Rome, Milan, Paris and Athens. Now living in Copenhagen, DK.

The main interest of Atla is painting and the image of expression, collective memory and emotional life. Formally discussing optical representations vs. the simplistic symbol, meaning a figure is always present one way or another. Furthermore formally experimenting with endless color combinations aiming for a metaphorical meaning of vitality, balance and lightful.

Creating images that may aspire to either to well-being and inner freedom or an emotional resonance in the eyes of the spectator.

For Atla painting is one of the most precious objects of humanity, as when excellent it may convey not just technical skill but also an object with which to collectively share and record an understanding of emotional life. Due to its manual construct, painting exposes everything of the hands of its maker, and the quality of the painting lies in every and most tiniest detail - in Atla's own words: "Painting is like the Chaos Theory, the whole (quality) is determined by the smallest gesture which may seem tiny or irrelevant."
